We are organizing the screening of a powerful documentary by Tina Farifteh, which sheds light on unfair double standards in society regarding empathy towards migrants. In collaboration with the oldest filmtheater in Amsterdam!

In the documentary Kitten of Vluchteling?, visual artist Tina Farifteh explores the mechanisms behind empathy, the dangers of empathy erosion, and subjects the audience to an experiment: who earns our empathy when it comes to matters of life and death? Who would you save from a war? Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion and Q&A (in English) with moderator Karlijn Limaheluw, filmmaker Tina Farifteh and our director Roos Ykema. The discussion will delve deeper into (the limits of) empathy, the cruelty of current migration policies, and how we can resist them.

Proceeds from the event will support our costly fight against systemic discrimination in deportations. Do you also think migration is a basic human right? Help us further and donate!
